PICK UP (optional)

Saturday, May 4|  7:30pm - 9pm

  1. Bring your ID to pick up your items.  We are very protective of your things and will not release them without proper ID that matches the name on your drop off form.  Someone else may pick up your items as long as their name is on your pick up form and they have an ID that matches it.
  2. We will match you with a Team Member who will guide you through your pick up checklist.
  3. Your items will be sorted into bags and the clothing will be tied together.  There will not be a need to sort through the thousands of items... we do it for you!
  4. Turn in your form and you are done!

Things to Know About Pick Up:

  • If you have sold so many items that you want to donate the few that are left simply email nicoleeuting@jbfsale.com and let us know.
  • Please do not email, call, or reach out to us on social media during this time as we are concentrating on breakdown and pick up and most likely won't see your message until LATE that night.  Text is always best during the event.
  • All items that have not been picked up by 9:01pm are considered donated to our charity partner and will be loaded onto their trailer at that time. We do not have the capability to take any items home.
  • While the computers do upload sales live throughout the event we will not have completed a final upload before pick up.  Therefore an item could have sold and may not be showing up on your sales report. Remember manually entered tags do not show up online, but do reflect in your check.

Bags, Diaper Bags, Backpacks, Slings, Baby Carriers, Blankets, Swaddles, Nursing Covers, Etc.

These are all great consignment items.  Please bring these items on a hanger (safety pins and zipties help hold them on).  We will have a designated clothing rack to hang these on.   Please inspect all items carefully to make sure items have not been recalled, stained, damaged or are missing pieces.

  • Package:  Please zip-tie items to an adult-size hanger. If you have a high value item (over $20) we will help you zip tie it to the rack for safe keeping and also attach a yellow claim ticket to it so that the item can be purchased.
  • Price:  Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.  Price it for what you would pay.
  • Tag:  Hole-punch JBF tag and attach it to item with ribbon, zip tie, or string. If item contains multiple pieces, be sure all pieces are included and list number of items on JBF tag description. Video for tips on tagging multiple pieces.

Bedding & Textiles

Bedding sizes accepted are bassinet through twin only. Please be selective when selling bedding, blankets, receiving blankets, burp cloths, and towels. New and barely used items sell best. Check carefully for stains; shoppers get very disappointed if they find a stain in a bundled blanket once they get home.

  • Click HERE for a helpful video!
  • Package:  Put bedding/crib/bedroom sets together in original packaging or in giant clear plastic bags. Arrange bedding sets inside bag so that shoppers can see all of the items as well as the design/pattern.  A picture on the outside of the bag helps the items sell better. Secure the bag so that items do not get separated. Bundle blankets, cloths, and towels like a package with ribbon, string, or large clear bag (be sure multiple pieces cannot be separated).  Blankets, cart covers, etc. sell better when hung over a hanger and pinned so they don’t fall off.
  • Price:  Price to sell! Shoppers are less likely to purchase these items used, so prices have to be low. Try to price 75% - 90% off retail.
  • Tag:  If bedding is in a plastic bag, attach tag securely with packaging tape to the inside of the bag and tape the bag shut (bedding set prices vary widely and securing tags inside bags prevents tag switching).  We will be checking these bags for stains at the sale and can help you tape it closed again. If bedding/blankets are bundled with string, attach tag directly to blanket and tuck it under the ribbon/string so that it does not easily get pulled off when shifting around during the sale.

Books, Games, DVDs, Education, Puzzles, Arts & Crafts

Books, book sets, board games, puzzles, video games, video game systems, scrapbook, arts & crafts sets are great items for resale.  Please only bring kids’, parenting, homeschooling, pregnancy and child rearing books.  Games and puzzles must have all pieces.  (No "adult" content please.)  Check items to ensure they are in great condition.

  • Click HERE for a helpful video!
  • Package:  Use clear, self-seal bags or clear cling wrap (saran wrap) to hold multiple items together; Tie sets of books together with ribbon/string. Be sure that parts/games to video game systems (such as Vtech) cannot be separated or switched out at the sale.
  • Price:  Prices can range from $.50 to $50 in this category, depending on the item. Price to sell especially for books & DVDs as there are always LOTS to choose from at the sale.
  • Tag:  When tagging books, please attach your tag to the book with clear tape that can be removed without damaging the item.  Painters tape is also great on boxes and books because it is less likely to rip the pictures.  Tape tag to the outside cover of books. Please do not use masking or double sided tape. Hole-punch JBF tag and tie to sets.

Clothing

  • Click HERE for a helpful video!
  • SIZES: We sell children's clothing Newborn through Juniors (Juniors must be CURRENT fashion and ODD sizes as women’s clothing is even numbered) as well as maternity.  Maternity items must be in excellent condition and must be a true maternity item (large sized non-maternity items that you may have worn during your pregnancy are not allowed).
  • SEASONS: Swim wear, costumes, dance/ gymnastics/ sportswear, jeans, khakis, button down dress shirts, and light weight sweaters/ jackets are accepted year round.
Our Spring sale (in May) is for Spring/ Summer items only. See above for year round exceptions.  We ask you to hold your winter items (heavy long sleeves, coats, heavy sweaters, fleece, corduroy, etc.) for the Fall event so that they sell better.  Please only bring clothing and holiday items you would dress your child in for May through September.
Our Fall sale (in October) is an all season event because this is Texas and one day we wear shorts and the next day it is snowing!  Please only bring holiday items that would be for October through April.
  • QUALITY:  Be picky. Look at your clothing items as if you were going to purchase them. No stained or damaged items will be accepted.  Any items that look like "mom's" clothes will be rejected. Please freshly clean your clothing items. Replace missing buttons, sew loose hems and seams, and clip loose threads. Please button all buttons, snap all snaps, zip all zippers, etc. before you arrive at drop off. This will ensure that there are no defects in the clothing. The newer the item looks (and the better it smells), the better it will sell.
  • Package & Hang:  Hangers - Please hang clothes so the hanger hook points to the left (like a question mark).  Hang size 0-6 clothing on child-size hangers and sizes 7-20 and maternity clothing on adult-size hangers. Clothing that falls off the hanger onto the floor does not sell well.  We accept all styles of hangers (plastic, wire, etc.)  Old Navy and many outlet stores are great places to get free hangers (they throw away hangers daily!) and Wal-Mart & Target sell child-size plastic tube hangers at a great price.
Clothing Sets - Sets tend to sell better (under size 6) so match things up if you can. All garments should be hung with the hanger hook pointing left (hanger should resemble a question mark when looking at the front of item).  Use a safety pin to attach clothing sets securely with bottom garment hung on the backside of the shirt, so both pieces can be viewed without separating them.
Pants/Shorts - Pant-clip hangers are great but if you use a standard hanger, simply safety pin pants to the top part of the hanger so the garment will not slide.
Socks, tights, hats and infant mittens need to be in a clear zip-lock bag (you may group multiple items in one bag).
  • Price:  Hanging Clothing - Put outfits/sets together to price for at least $3.00; Start at $3 for basic, generic brand 0-24mo outfit. Add $1 each for larger size, name brand, formal, and heavy/winter.  We get a lot of clothing so price competitively.  Non-hanging Clothing - Put sets together to price for at least $3.00, but okay to price for less (i.e..., 6 pair of socks for $1.50).
  • Tag:  Clothing on Hangers – Attach the tag with a safety pin to the upper right side (when facing you) of the garment.  If using a tagging gun insert the gun in a label or inside seam NOT through part of the clothing (to avoid making a hole or tear in the clothing). Also, pull on the tag to make sure it is properly secured and will not come off easily. Please make sure consignor tags are pulled out of the clothing so they are easily visible to the customers.
Non-Hanging Clothing - Please use tagging gun or safety pins to attach tags to socks, tights, infant mittens, and accessories. Be sure to also attach multiple pieces together. Then put these items into clear zip-lock bags. You may tape the bag closed, but it could be opened by a team member for inspection.  It is also acceptable to tape the tag on the outside of the bag.

Exersaucers, swings, high chairs, changing tables, cribs (Manufactured AFTER June 28, 2011; please bring Crib Waiver for all cribs), strollers, bath seats, baby walkers, car seats & car seat accessories must be checked for safety recalls, must have all parts, and be in good condition.  Car seats must have an expiration date of more than 1 year from the time of the sale, must have the manual (original or printed from the website), and meet the requirements in our car seat waiver that you will leave with us at drop off. Children's furniture - beds (toddler, twin), desks, side tables, dressers, etc.  Plastic crib mattresses are accepted.  Household furniture - please see Mommy Mart information below.

Please bring a Car Seat Checklist and manual (original or printed) for all car seats, booster seats, and car seat base or infant carrier.

Shoes

Make sure that shoes are clean, clean, clean! We will be VERY selective with shoes during inspection.  Ask yourself if you would buy them before tagging them.  NO scuff marks, dirt, cracking, loose strings, etc. *TIP* A magic eraser can do miracles on shoes!

  • SEASONS: Spring sale (in May) only Spring and Summer style (no winter styles).
Fall sale (in October) all seasons/ styles, because this is Texas!
  • Package: Fasten shoes together with zip ties. For infant shoes or small shoes without laces, you may put the shoes in a clear zip-lock bag. We prefer no shoe boxes. However, if shoes are in the box, please remove the lid, secure it to the bottom of the box, and secure the shoes to the box (closed boxes do not sell well).
  • Price: Shoes must be in good condition and should start at $3.00 for infant/toddler; Add $1 each for larger size, name brand, or heavy/winter.
  • Tag: Punch a hole in the top of your tag and attach the tag to the shoes with the ribbon, string, or zip tie. For infant shoes in a clear zip-lock bag, put the tag inside the bag and tape the bag shut with clear packing tape.

We only accept name brand (Disney, Build a Bear, etc.) stuffed animals or battery-operated/motion stuffed animals. Over sized (2+ ft) animals are also accepted. Before tagging your stuffed animals, please double-check to make sure it is clean.  Our team will pull them at their discretion.

Tagging Tips

I get it... I'm a mom who is super busy and can see how tagging can seem overwhelming!  Don't let it!  We are here to help you and answer all your questions; please feel free to call or email us with your questions.  Our Consignor Facebook Group is also a huge help because you can ask questions, get insider information, and more!

Suggested Supplies:
I keep the following items together so that when I have a few minutes to tag, everything is together.  These aren't required items, but I use a lot of them.

  • white cardstock (paper tags aren't accepted)
  • safety pins and a tagging gun (not required, but I love mine!)
  • hangers (we don't care what kind as long as they are the right size)
  • baggies
  • clear packing tape and painter's tape
  • scissors
  • zip ties and ribbon
  • downy wrinkle releasers
  • saran wrap
  • magic eraser and Febreeze

_________________________________________________________

A personal note from Nicole:
This is exactly what I would tell a friend about tagging; it is the parent to parent version of tagging:

Tagging and preparing your items does take time! Don’t procrastinate!  Many of our smart consignors start thinking of things to sell as soon as the previous event is over.

I keep a tub or laundry basket in each of my kids' closets or rooms.  Every time something comes out of the wash that’s too small, it gets folded neatly (reduces wrinkles, I seldom iron) and put it in the tub.  Those totes get FULL and I have to switch them out for empty ones often (especially in the baby's room).  I stick a label on them “JBF” and they go into the garage.

Everything in our house is hung on a hanger the "JBF way".  This means the hanger is facing the same way as a question mark (?).  That way when something is outgrown it is already hung up for me and all I have to do is tag it!

Several weeks before the sale, I stock up on hangers and cardstock, buy extra ink, safety pins, clear packing tape, painter's tape, and a spool of curling ribbon ($2 in the party supply aisle and it’ll last you for YEARS).   I remember buying these things at Wal-Mart the first time, and having to remind myself that yes, though I’m spending $20-$30 on supplies to sell my items, it’s SO WORTH IT!  When you break it down, you’re spending about 10 cents per item on tagging supplies.  Compare making 60% selling a $10 pair of jeans ($6.00) to making a couple dollars selling those at a garage sale, and you’ll agree that it’s a no-brainer.

I personally keep all my tagging supplies in a tub.  Having all these supplies readily available and together ends the frustration of sitting down to tag and having to constantly jump up and find something else you need.

When I’m feeling the need to purge (or just find some closet space) I get some empty totes out and go through my kids' rooms.  Anything I pull from the closet STAYS on the hanger, because that’s a step I now can skip when tagging. (I purposely hang all of our clothes in the "question mark" style so they are JBF ready.)    Anything that’s not JBF quality goes in a bag for charity.  Stained items I think are treatable go in a pile on the washing machine for the next time I do laundry.  Shoes get a swipe of Magic Eraser if needed (or get tossed in that laundry pile too).

Usually at this point I put all these totes in the garage and don’t look at them again for a while (see why planning ahead makes this easy?)  Plus, gathering stuff weeks before lets your kids see if they’re missing something (then it can be retrieved from the garage) AND it’ll let you re-evaluate what’s left in their room.  Right before the sale you might do another run-through and gather stuff that’s been uncovered that they really don’t care about.

Another tried and true tip…DON’T take anything (except clothes and shoes) while your child is there.  They won’t miss the toys if they don’t see them leaving, but if they watch mommy box up something it suddenly turns into something they can’t live without.

All tagged items leave the children's reach immediately and go into colored totes, because the kiddos see what is in the clear ones and ask for the items back!

Next, decide where you’re going to get down to business, somewhere protected and clean and out of your daily living space is ideal (guest bedroom, formal dining room, etc.).  Hang all your clothing (left like a question mark).  Keep or put it in size order.  This will help you when entering your tags and less work for drop off.  Pin together outfits, look for stains and tears, use Downy wrinkle release (I only pull out the iron if it’s critical to the outfit, such as a flower that’s all crushed up and wrinkled front and center, or a lace hem that’s not laying right).  Use baggies for misc. items like socks, accessories, small pieces that go with a large toy.   Now take a break for a day (or a week) unless you’re really feeling motivated or are down to the wire.

You can enter tags on your computer, tablet, or phone.  I prefer my phone because I can do it while in the playroom, garage, etc.   Get logged in, and go to “my profile” on the right.  Check to see that your account says the sale you’re about to participate in.   Also consider checking the “reduce” and “donate” boxes.  I always do, and promise you’ll make more money if your items are set to reduce (even if you choose not to donate).  If you are donating your items, be SURE and check the reduce box, otherwise you’re cheating yourself out of money you could be earning!

In the order that your items are stacked or hung, complete each tag.  Keep your descriptions straight to the point, but be descriptive.  Remember the tags will only print about 3 lines of information.  *Event Coordinator's Tip* If an item loses its tag during the event we use these descriptions to find them in the computer and match the tag.  If you don't use good descriptions (ex. blue shirt) we are less likely to match the item back and sell it.  A good tag says something like, "GAP blue short sleeve shirt with horizontal green stripes" and of course has the correct size where indicated.

KEEP YOUR ITEMS IN THE ORDER YOU ENTER THEM IN.   After every 100 items or so, print those tags.  NOTICE the order they printed in.  Cut only a few sheets at a time, keeping those sheets in order after you cut.  Now pick up the tags in order.

Pull out your nicely organized stack of tags, and go to your organized stack of items. Now simply take the first tag to the first item and pin it on, continue on down the pile, pining on the right shoulder of garment when you are looking at it (left shoulder for real). There should be no “memory game”, trying to figure out what tag goes with which item.

When you get to shoes, I use zipties to tie the shoes together, some toys and large items will require packing tape, some items need to go into Ziploc bags.  If you are using the tagging gun, insert the tag through the back tag or the top right seam, NOT the middle of the fabric and make sure it is clearly visible.

Bag or box your items, keeping clothing sorted by size and gender.  I like to put my clothes in white trash bags that I put over the top like a dry-cleaner bag.  I then write the size and gender on the outside of the bag. Don’t procrastinate and not get the toys, equipment and miscellaneous tagged, because that’s what we always sell out of!  I start with the largest items first and work my way down.

NOW YOU'RE READY FOR DROP-OFF!  I know this was long (aren’t I wordy?) but hopefully the 5 minutes it took you to read it will save you HOURS of work and wasted time when getting ready for the sale.

The first time consigning is overwhelming to everyone, so that’s why planning ahead and finding your rhythm is the key to enjoying the process...well, that and the money.  Our consignors sell over $400 each sale.  So buying supplies and spending your time prepping your kids outgrown things should be well worth your effort.  Plus the shopping is a blast!

Happy Tagging!
